How should I prepare for a microwave ablation?
Dr. Apo will check your medical history, imaging, and blood tests. You’ll likely be asked to fast the night before and temporarily stop any blood thinners.
What happens during the procedure?
You’ll receive local anesthesia or mild sedation. A probe is inserted through a small skin puncture and guided to the tumor. Microwaves are used to heat and destroy the tumor. The process usually takes 1–2 hours.
How long is the recovery?
Most patients go home the same day or after a short overnight stay. You might feel tired for a few days and may have some mild pain at the treatment site, but many return to work or daily tasks within 2–3 days.
What follow-up is needed?
